Premier Leadership Academy first opened its doors to the community in August 2003 as Omega Academy at 3737 Roosevelt Ave. Serving nearly 60 students during that time, it was the second Jubilee Academic Center campus in the Bexar County area. Since the inception, the campus has continued to make significant strides. By fall of 2008, the positive increase in enrollment called for a relocation of the site to 502 E. Southcross and became known as Alpha Leadership Academy. Three years later, Alpha added Premier Leadership Academy as an expansion site at 1630 Goliad, serving Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade. 2015 marks the merge of both campuses and the official transition from Alpha Leadership Academy to Premier Leadership Academy.
This 2016-2017 academic school year, Premier will join the Athlos model. The expansion will move students from their current location to the Athlos Leadership Academy-Premier, a state-of-the-art facility, serving Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Athlos Leadership Academy-Premier is a unique public school model that prepares kids for a competitive future in three essential ways: Academics + Athletics + Character. We take outstanding instructors, proven teaching methods and develop innovative and effective ways to help educate the ‘whole child’. In combination with the Athlos athletic curriculum and nutrition efforts, the academic program is based on a back-to-basics curriculum, accelerated pace of study, and high expectations for lifelong success.
The Athlos Leadership Academy-Premier curriculum is designed to embrace and represent the ‘healthy body, prepared mind’ philosophy. A focus on character building, in combination with a positive discipline program and parental involvement, provides a safe and structured environment for learning. Study after study links physical activity with academic achievement. The Athlos model integrates a planned, age-appropriate, fitness program and facility featuring advanced technology and physical education components allowing our philosophy to be put into practice.
